Blog #1: Where I am going with this?

My site seems pretty plain, at first! There is a reason for that. I choose a simple template because I wanted the space to emphasize the words. I thought of this a representation of myself. I just got back from two months of traveling abroad. When traveling, they tell you not to wear to many name brands or fancy items (jewelry, expensive watches, etc.). I followed this logic so did many other travelers I met. So, the idea of looking plain doesn’t always mean it is plain. Many of the people I met had rich personalities and fascinating stories, which if this is an extension of myself, is what I like to think I am.
I choose green, black and white as base colors because of their modern but natural earthiness. I choose the green in a vibrate hue so that it would pop with the black and white. Keep the viewer in a zone, but not dulling their excitement on the site. Black and white gives it a plain, cookie cutter feel. But it also gives the view a chance to focus in on the words. I really didn’t want much time to be spent looking at the background. My goal would be to have the viewer focus on the blog posts.
Finally, I chose to add a few fun elements with icons. I added a moving plane icon when the page first loads. A viewer can see the words “go somewhere” but having the plan fly in re-forces those words. By giving the icon a motion it draws the viewer in, then they will want to explore more of what it means to “go somewhere.” I also hoped it kept the viewer on the top of the page longer allowing them to see the full gallery of images rolling though on the top panel. Further inspiring the viewer to “go somewhere.” Which is what I was going for in this site.
That's where I was going with this :)
